 A growing number of families in Maine are now benefitting from "Smart Discipline For Parents," a two-hour seminar which presents
an effective system of discipline for the home. "Smart Discipline", according to Joyce Pelletier, a Licensed Clinical
Professional Counselor and local seminar leader, helps to eliminate negative attitudes, and to get children self-motivated to follow rules.
"It teaches parents how to discipline without yelling, and how to build positive relationships with their children," adds Joyce, who recently
concluded a seminar at Galillee Baptist Church with 134 parents in attendance. "Smart Discipline for Parents" was written by Dr. Larry Koenig, a family therapist and counselor, and is presented in schools and churches all over the United States.
The seminar covers such topics as: • Why having a good discipline plan is important • Deciding what behavior needs to be changed • Why rules are necessary
• Designing effective rules for your home • How to self-motivate children to follow the rules • Implementing Smart Discipline • Developing positive relationships with your children
• Making a happy home. As a family therapist, Joyce believes that she is able to integrate her knowledge and counseling experiences toward helping parents.
