custom-build a seminar to address the specific needs of your group.Joyce Pelletier, LCPC, is a former MK from the country of Ecuador. She and Stephanie Lanham, PMHNP-BC have co-authored a book entitled Recovery from Traumatic
Stress: A Guide For Missionaries, which will be available through William Carey Library by the end of June 2010. Joyce teaches missionaries how to recognize the symptoms of trauma in their lives, how to recognize the emotional and spiritual issues that may arise as a result of trauma, and how
to get help. Her seminar entitled Missionaries' and Families' Guide to Recovery from Traumatic Stress helps cross-cultural workers understand trauma through the eyes of the accounts of their fellow workers. Helping Cross Cultural Workers and Their Familiesis a seminar for counselors, lay workers, and clinicians who work to provide support for missionaries and expatriates. This
workshop provides an overview of the unique issues and challenges in the lives of cross-cultural workers traumatized by loss, tragedy, or crisis during time of missions work or foreign service.
Diagnostic criteria is reviewed with emphasis on symptoms of PTSD and related diagnoses. The role of the counselor, treatment goals, and current therapies to help victims of trauma is highlighted
